Food, Inc.

Just got around to seeing Food, Inc., and for those of you who have not yet seen it, it is a must. The movie reveals some of the well-kept and most horrifying secrets of the American food industry and some of the factors that created it. It will fan the flames of your activism, and help us to realize how much more there is to do out there.

Once again, Michael Pollan (one of the main narrators in the movie, along with Eric Schlosser--author of Fast Food Nation) is a beacon of high intelligence regarding our food system. Some of you may remember Michael Pollan saying "Eat food, not too much, mostly plants," which reminds me of George Ohsawa (more about him later).

Thank you for visiting Macro New York! I'm just getting started in cyberspace, but have a lot to share with all of you. My goal for this blog is to work on a new macrobiotic center for New York where we can share information and items of interest pertaining to the macro scene--New York and beyond!

My name is Kezia Snyder and I have been involved with the macrobiotic community in New York and the East Coast since I started with George Ohsawa's books in 1969. I have long wanted to cultivate a more organized network for macrobiotics in NYC, which has gone through various phases, shorter-lived macrobiotic centers, etc. There so are many wonderful teachers, restaurants, and resources around the city but not enough accessible information and coordination among the teachers.

My "Macro New York" blog will be a forum for communication, organization, and sharing of information about health, wellness, food, and important news.
